In solidarity with the Christians of Syria: Christmas tree at the entrance of "ICGER"

The International Center for Geopolitical and Economic Research (ICGER) has set up and lit a Christmas tree at its entrance as a symbolic gesture to condemn the recent incidents targeting Christians in Syria. These incidents include the burning of a Christmas tree in the city of Sqeilbiyah in rural Hama, attacks on churches, and restrictions on their celebrations and religious rituals in several regions.

This initiative was launched by the center’s administration, led by its president, Dr. Mohammad Walid Youssef, at this particular time in response to the recent events in Syria. Initially, the administration had decided not to display any festive decorations for Christmas this year out of respect for those affected by the war in southern Lebanon, including colleagues who had lost loved ones or whose homes were damaged.

However, the administration felt compelled to make this symbolic gesture as a show of solidarity with Syrian Christians, who are integral to the country’s diverse and rich cultural mosaic of faiths, ethnicities, and communities.

This initiative also reaffirms that the center, under its leadership and with the dedication of its staff, serves as an inclusive space for all Middle Eastern communities, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or sect.
