ICGER Concludes Discussion Series on the Critique of Islamic Political History

In the third and final session on Friday, August 9, 2024, the ICGER concluded its discussion series on the critique of Islamic history. The event was led by the Center’s president, Dr. Mohammad Walid Youssef, and attended by department heads, geopolitical division leaders, and international guests from Syria and France who joined via video conference.
The session was moderated by Dr. Imad Ghannoum, lecturer at the Lebanese University, who emphasized the responsibility of those engaged in what he described as “a cultural, reformist, and enlightenment-driven project led by political scholar Dr. Mohammad Walid Youssef.”
Dr. Ghannoum asserted, “It is our duty to serve as emissaries of this intellectual and civilizational initiative, which, if successful and widely adopted, could lead our region toward prosperity and renewal.”
Dr. Youssef then addressed what he termed the “explosion of the Islamic Empire,” providing an in-depth analysis of its long-term consequences regionally and globally.
The session concluded with an open Q&A, with participants engaging both in person and via video link. Dr. Youssef responded to questions and comments.
