The International Center for Geopolitical and Economic Studies Launches Its Semi-Annual Geopolitical Report (January – June 2025)

The International Center for Geopolitical and Economic Research (ICGER) launched its semi-annual geopolitical report for 2025 during a seminar held on Friday, August 1, at its headquarters in central Beirut. The event was attended by the Center’s President, Dr. Mohamed Walid Youssef, alongside the Center’s research team and several guests.

The session was moderated by Dr. Imad Ghannoum, and presentations were delivered by heads of the Center’s geopolitical departments, each covering their respective regions:

  • Ms. Amal Hussein, Head of the Americas Department.
  • Ms. Hasniya Jbeili, Head of the Geopolitical Division and Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department.
  • Ms. Reem Atwi, Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Department.
  • Mr. Aiham Boushi, Head of the China and Oceania Department.
  • Ms. Haneen Jarkas, Head of the Asia Department.
  • Mr. Albert Bou Khalil, Head of the Europe Department.

The report highlighted key global geopolitical developments during the first half of 2025 and was simultaneously published on the Center’s official website. Dr. Mohamed Walid Youssef also delivered an in-depth analytical reading of these events, outlining their potential implications for the second half of the year and the medium term.

As part of the seminar, Dr. Youssef presented a comparative analysis of the Middle East’s geopolitical map for 2024 and that of the first half of 2025, shedding light on their strategic meanings and evolving trends.

The seminar concluded with an open discussion session, where attendees posed questions and engaged in a lively exchange with Dr. Youssef regarding the report’s findings, analyses, and forward-looking insights.
